Identity among Turkish Shi’is: An Ethnographic Study

This article examines the cultural identity of Turkish Shi’is in a border province East Turkey and how their ethnic religious identities are positioned within political context Turkey. living Igdir, easternmost Turkey, may share ethnicity majority but they minority terms identity. Their is shifting contextually always under construction. In this context, theorist Stuart Hall explains as never-ending construction, process never completed—always progress. paper traces multilayered interdisciplinary approach Hall’s interpretations applies them to discuss social, cultural, positionings Igdir Ja’faris The study uses ethnographic data based on field observation semi-structured interviews with Igdir.
